Deer Park Barn

DESCRIPTION

Deer Park Barn is a charming little red brick and stone barn, nestled within parkland on the Fonthill Estate. Access is over the white bridge, through gates and along a track running adjacent to the beautiful Fonthill lake. The venue offers privacy and intimacy for small gatherings such as summer drinks parties and dinner parties and can seat up to 32 people inside. Alternatively, a large marquee can be erected next to the barn to accommodate several hundred guests for weddings and other large events.

The barn has attractive stone walls with alcoves and exposed roof timbers. At one end of the barn there is an entrance leading into a small open plan kitchen (which can be discreetly sectioned off using blinds), next door to which is a loo and shower room. At the far end is a second entrance, functioning wood burner and pull down hatch with metal steps leading to a sleeping platform above. Along the front of the barn there are double doors opening onto a pretty courtyard enclosed by a dry-stone wall. Outside of which is a large, grassed area approximately 30m square, where a marquee can be sited for wedding ceremonies, drinks, dinner and / or dancing and still leave enough space for seating an al fresco ceremony, games or whatever takes your fancy!

Deer Park Barn is often used as a base or incorporated within the celebrations of those using Quarry Wood.

WEDDING CEREMONIES

The whole venue is licensed for civil ceremonies, including the barn, courtyard and grassed area, allowing you total flexibility to hold it wherever you want. The external courtyard is a popular place to hold a ceremony as is the grassed area, which is capable of accommodating several hundred guests, or alternatively a marquee can be erected in which a ceremony can be held.

There are no restrictions about what you can include, who can conduct or numbers of guests attending, a non-legal ceremony. But this is not the case for a civil ceremony which is a legal marriage ceremony and governed by the Wiltshire Registrar Office. Currently separate areas of the venue are licensed for different numbers of guests for a legal civil ceremony, as follows:

Main Barn                                             30 people

Courtyard and Grassed Area          Unrestricted

CAMPING

There is plenty of land around the barn on which to camp and a bell tent ‘village’ can be set up behind the barn. There is no charge for camping, but camping is not included in the 48 hour package. Camper vans can be parked on the grass alongside the track.

GUEST NUMBERS & TABLE LAYOUT

There are a few options on how tables can be laid out for dinning in the barn, according to how many guests you are catering for. The maximum number that can be seated inside is 30 on three round tables or 24 on trestle tables, but of course you can extend this by putting up a stretch tent in the courtyard for up to 80 guests. Below are a few suggestions of different options in the barn itself:

LENGTH OF HIRE

If you are hiring the barn for a small party for a day and / or evening, you will be paying a cheaper hire charge and you will have access to the venue from 12 noon the day before your event to set up, until 12 noon the day after to clear up. We will meet you on site at a time of your choosing to do the check-in and will return to check you out two days later.

However, if you are hiring the venue for a large event such as a wedding, where you will need a third party to erect a professional marquee, you will have access to the site for just short of 5 days. For example, for a Saturday event, we will meet you at the venue, at a time of your choosing on the Thursday prior to your event to do a check-in and the keys need to be returned to us at midday on the Monday following your event, when we will meet you to complete the check-out.

On occasion we may need to come to the venue to show prospective couples, or carry out essential maintenance, but we will try to keep this to a minimum.

WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

We have very few rules, but to summarise, we ask the following: to treat the venue with respect, don’t cause any damage, use your common sense with regards to the health and safety of yourselves and your guests and return the venue in a good clean state of repair. The few rules that we do have are set out in our hire agreement, which we will ask you to read and sign when you make your booking. The main points to consider are as follows:

Candles:
Please use non-drip candles inside, or to keep candles contained in something such as a hurricane vase or T-light holders.

Confetti:
Please only use small, dried petal confetti.

Cleaning:
You will need to return the venue in the same good clean state of repair in which we hand it to you. You must clean the entirety of the venue, including inside and out before returning the keys. We advise that you employ cleaners to do this for you and we can recommend people who are familiar with the venue and can clean it on your behalf.

Rubbish Removal:
All rubbish must be removed from the venue prior to returning the keys to us. We recommend you pay to have your rubbish removed and we can suggest companies who can do this for you.

Gates:
All gates onto the Estate must be kept shut at all times.
