Weddings and Events
Here on the Fonthill Estate we have several beautiful and unique venues which are available to hire for weddings and events. All venues are let out on a ‘dry hire’ basis, allowing you to choose your own suppliers and control your budget.
Bake Barn is our largest venue and extremely popular. It provides flexibility of use incorporating different areas including the stone barn itself with a fully fitted catering kitchen, a lobby, loos and a large first floor room, as well as an open fronted loggia and lawn, all set within a walled courtyard.
Deer Park Barn is a little gem and a mini version of Bake Barn. It is ideal for intimate weddings and parties, but there is also a large, designated area of parkland on which a marquee can be erected to accommodate several hundred guests. Enclosed by a stone courtyard, the barn houses a small open-plan kitchen and loo.
With its impressive mature trees, Quarry Wood is a perfect setting for a woodland wedding. Quarry Wood Lawn, looking down onto the beautiful Fonthill Lake is also included in this package and provides a large area on which to erect a marquee for several hundred guests. Surrounded by grottos and with a secret dance pit, let your imagination run wild.
“Ideal blank canvas”
Bake Barn is absolutely beautiful and was the ideal blank canvas for us to organise our day as the spaces are so flexible. We had both our ceremony and reception on site, as it was large enough for both a marquee outdoors and an indoor sit-down meal; Oonagh and the Fonthill Estate team were so helpful when we were booking in suppliers and getting everything organised. We used the Fonthill Arch and countryside by the Estate’s lake for our photos – the Barn’s location is fantastic. We loved celebrating our day there, it was the perfect venue for us.

Amazing venue, lovely team
When we were booking our wedding back in 2020, we were struggling to find a venue that would allow us to make the day our own. Bake Barn was the only venue that was truly happy to let us do what we wanted!
One of the joys of the barn is its natural beauty- it doesn’t need a lot of decoration. We went with a few different arrangements that were moved around. With a few candles at dinner and the lovely up-lighting in the barn and huge chandelier, it really came to life in the evening. We set up the barn for dinner and used the outside courtyard for the ceremony and drinks reception. We hired lounge furniture for the side barns where we also added a bar, which worked really well. We loved being able to camp on site and use the place “as our own” until Monday, so we had a long walk and pizza van on Sunday. In short, book this venue!

Perfect dry-hire venue!
Bake Barn was absolutely perfect for our wedding day! The whole team were incredibly responsive throughout, and provided really helpful information about the venue, surrounding area, and potential suppliers (many of whom we ended up using). The venue is perfectly set up as a dry-hire space – you’re totally free to do what you want with the building and area, but it also has a full industrial kitchen, high quality bathrooms, a speaker system etc so you don’t have to bring it absolutely everything. The barn itself is finished to such a high standard, and is set in the most beautiful countryside with lots of lovely accommodation options nearby. Honestly cannot recommend it highly enough!

THE CRICKET PAVILION
The Cricket Pavilion is a small, attractive space with a bar and covered veranda. It is available for hire for meetings, parties, exhibitions, cricket matches, etc, and outside the cricket season (April to September) a marquee can be erected on a designated area for larger events such as wedding receptions. There is limited parking available at this venue.
THE READING ROOM
The Reading Room is the equivalent to our ‘village hall’ and is available for hire for meetings, parties, exhibitions, exercise classes, workshops and other events. There is a stage area, kitchen, loos, good wifi, a screen to connect your laptop to and some parking on site.
FILMING AT FONTHILL
The Estate offers extensive gardens and parkland, woodland, rivers, lakes, forests, architectural features and Fonthill Village for filming. It has been featured in the 2000 film ‘Chocolat’ featuring Johnny Depp, Juliette Binoche & Judi Dench, the 2012 drama ‘Cheerful Weather for The Wedding’ featuring Felicity Jones and Luke Treadaway and the classic 1975 film ‘Barry Lyndon’ starring Ryan O’Neal. We are also happy to welcome local university students to film projects/dissertations here on the Estate.
